Chapter 1 · The brains

How YOLO thinks

An expert gives YOLO an idea. Turning that idea into something you can judge is split between twelve specialists, each with a single job, each allowed to answer "no", and each with a hard edge it cannot cross. Maths decides every number you are shown; the AI reads language, summarises and argues against a weak idea — it never calculates a figure you trade on, and it cannot overrule the risk limits you set.

Every one of them answers a single question, is allowed to answer “no”, and hands its answer to the next. Turn the cluster, then choose any of them to see what it decides — and, more importantly, what it may never decide.

Twelve specialists between an expert’s sentence and a trade you approve, each its own body of work, with material visibly moving between them. Drag the cluster to turn it, scroll or pinch to zoom, and click any brain — or any name below — to light up everything it is wired to. A click on the cluster itself also puts that specialist’s one-line job beside it, with a link down to what it receives, what it hands on, and where its authority stops.

Takes the expert's idea and builds options strategies whose worst case is known before you commit. You see the most you can lose in pounds, the payoff shape, and the break-even points — every one of those numbers computed, not estimated by a chatbot.

What it hands on

  • The Portfolio Brain — A trade that is fine on its own can still be your third bet on the same company.
  • The Exit Brain — The structure's own best and worst case are what a staged exit is measured against — there is nothing to plan an exit around without them.
  • The Sizing Brain — A structure's own worst case per contract is what the size is divided by — below one contract there is nothing left to shrink, so it refuses honestly instead.

Read the tags above: everything marked Computed is arithmetic you could check by hand. Everything marked Worded by AI is language about those numbers. That line never moves — the AI in The Quant Brain writes sentences, it never calculates a figure you trade on, and it cannot raise a limit you set.

Maths decides, AI explains. Every number you are shown — your maximum loss, the break-evens, the stake — is worked out by deterministic code. AI is used to read language, to summarise and to argue against a weak idea; it never calculates a number you trade on, and it cannot overrule the risk limits you set.

Why so many, rather than one clever one? Because a single system that does everything can be wrong about everything at once, and cannot be told where to stop. Twelve specialists with one job each can be measured separately, argued with separately, and switched off separately — and any one of them is allowed to answer “no” without the rest overriding it.
